Grande Prairie Rotary, Rotarac clubs set to kick off Dignity Drive

The four Rotary Clubs and Rotaract club in Grande Prairie have teamed up again to help those in need by collecting new socks and underwear through their Dignity Drive initiative.

Throughout April, residents in the region can donate new underwear and socks, with those items being distributed to the street-engaged population, as well as others who may benefit.

Campaign Committee Member Heather Jones says socks and underwear are essential to all people, and it is important for everyone to have access to them.

“Socks and underwear are the most needed items for these people and it’s actually the least donated item and that is why we take this initiative seriously and do it twice a year.”

Jonas adds she is very pleased with the work the community of Grande Prairie does when they come together.

“Grande Prairie is never shy of giving, it never ceases to amaze me when Grande Prairie shows up. We are very small in number but boy are we mighty,” says Jones

There will be a drop-off booth at the GP Woman’s Show from April 28th to 30th and the Grande Prairie Home and Garden Show from April 14th to 16th. Other drop-off locations include Keddies, Centre 2000, and any Co-op.

The items be sorted out and provided to local not-for-profit organizations for pick up, including the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre, Canadian Mental Health Association, and Northreach Society.
