Babitsch matter expected to be “resolved” before next court date

It looks like a deal could be in the works for Shane Babitsch. The 23 year old is charged with first degree murder, criminal negligence and committing indignity to a human body, in connection with the death of 26 year old Courtney Johnstone, whose remains were found in the Aquatera landfill in February 2014.

His next appearance is set for October 5th, but in Grande Prairie court last week, his rep Chris Millsap said he expects the matter to be resolved before then. Earlier this year, Babitsch applied to amend his not guilty plea, and Millsap indicated re-election should happen before this fall.

Calls to his lawyer Brian Hurley about a possible deal have not been returned.
