Nolan Dyck seeking Grande Prairie UCP nomination

Local entrepreneur and business owner Nolan Dyck is hoping to earn the public’s trust as the nominee for the soon-to-be-open UCP candidacy for MLA in Grande Prairie. Dyck, who has been in the region since moving here FOR college in 2008, says part of his desire to run stems from wanting success for those who choose to call the region home.

“I want to make sure those opportunities and the opportunities afforded me continue in the area. I like to see when Albertans are free, and there is opportunity to create, be entrepreneurs, be business owners, and have that hard-working free spirit,” he says.

“We’re just coming out of probably the most difficult time in the last 50 years at least, and we seem to be on a precipice of whether or not our economy is really just going to flourish,” he adds.

After finishing post-secondary, Dyck remained in Grande Prairie and has since opened both a marketing and small tech company in what he believes is the thriving economic centre of the province. He says if he is able to secure a seat in the legislature representing Grande Prairie, he hopes to continue that growth.

“I’m really passionate about energy; I love the energy sector. Seeing the amount of technology and how much of a forefront Grande Prairie is on,” he says. “We have jobs here, we’ve seen so much opportunity, and I just want to see that continue.”

Also in the race for the UCP nomination are Gladys Blackmore, Larry Gibson, and Tayyab Parvez. Grande Prairie residents who hold UCP membership can nominate the party’s candidate for the riding on April 3rd.
