City hosting guest speaker for anti-racism education

The City of Grande Prairie is hosting a guest speaker to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Irfan Chaudry from MacEwan University will be the guest speaker.

Mayor Jackie Clayton is urging the community to join the event.

“We are pleased to welcome Irfan back to Grande Prairie, and encourage all members of the community to join in this meaningful discussion,” says Clayton. “Addressing and eliminating racism is critical for supporting an inclusive, caring community that supports multiculturalism and is welcoming for everyone.”

The presentation will aim to support people in exploring the concepts of race, racism, and anti-racism, gaining a broader awareness of how racism manifests itself, and more. The event is taking place on Tuesday, March 21st from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m at the Grande Prairie Museum.
