Grande Prairie feel just short of breaking a rainfall record yesterday. 40.2 millimetres fell before midnight, just behind the 42.9 millimetres the city got in 1983.
The rain started mid-afternoon and fell so fast that some streets flooded. The rodeo and chuckwagons at Pomeroy Guitars & Wagons were cancelled for the safety of the horses and riders.
More rain is expected tonight and tomorrow.
