Volunteers needed for Grande Prairie CIBC Run for the Cure

The Canadian Cancer Society is looking for volunteers for the upcoming CIBC Run for the Cure in Grande Prairie. The organization says the Grande Prairie committee in charge of delivering the event is facing challenges recruiting volunteers and filling important planning committee roles.

A few of the roles needing to be filled include Hope Engagement Lead, Registration Lead, and Run Day Experience lead, along with numerous others.

Volunteer Experience Coordinator and Fundraising Event Recruitment Dalibor Jovasevic says there are looking for these leadership volunteers to help with planning from now until the day of the event.

“It’s just like a regular job you know if you have a good skill set then you can volunteer, it’s just a couple hours a week and work from home.”

Jovasevic adds they will also need volunteers for the event day, which they will put out again in the summer.

Last October, MyGrandePrairieNow.com reported the 144 participants who took part in the run raised $50,140. Across Canada last year CCS says over $13 million was raised for research, support programs, and advocacy efforts for those with breast cancer.

The 2023 Canadian Cancer Society Run for the Cure is scheduled for Sunday, October 1st. More information will be available in the coming months.

More information on how to become a volunteer can be found on the website.
