Grande Prairie Storm eliminated from playoffs

The Grande Prairie Storm’s 2022 – 2023 campaign has come to an end after losing four straight games to the Whitecourt Wolverines in the first round of the Alberta Junior Hockey League playoffs. Similar to games one and two in Whitecourt over the weekend, the pair of games at Bonnetts Energy Centre this week included one overtime decision.

During Tuesday night’s game three, the Storm trailed the visiting Wolverines heading into both the second and third periods. However, two goals in the third tied the game 6 – 6, forcing overtime. With 15:43 left in overtime, Whitecourt won 7 – 6.

Wednesday night’s game four saw the Wolverines complete the sweep, taking the win with a score of 4 -1. Storm Forward Ty Teows put up five points during the four-game series.

The last time the Storm were in the playoffs was in 2020, when they were eliminated in game six of the first round by the Spruce Grove Saints.
