Grande Prairie rental rates sit lowest of 35 reported municipalities: Rentals.ca

Rent in the City of Grande Prairie remains the lowest out of the 35 cities surveyed in the Rentals.ca and Urban nation National Rent Report for the second month in a row.

Grande Prairie finished 35th on the list with a one-bedroom apartment in the month of February on average costing $966, down 4.6 per cent compared to January of this year, but up 9.2 per cent compared to the same month the previous year. A two-bedroom apartment in the city saw a year-over-year increase of 9.8 per cent on average costing $1,186.

Across Canada, rent prices saw a 9.7 percent year-over-year increase with Alberta seeing a 14.5 percent increase in February. The average rent for a one-bedroom across the province costing $1,272 for February.

Regina finished 34th on the list again with a one-bedroom apartment costing $1,043 and a two-bedroom costing $1,257. Vancouver and Toronto remain the two most expensive places for rent in the country. The average rent for a one-bedroom in Vancouver is $2,640, and in Toronto is $2,501. Calgary finished 26th on the list, and Edmonton finished 32nd with Lethbridge coming in 30th for February.
