Peace country substitutes recognized during Alberta substitute teachers appreciation week

Substitute teachers are being recognized across the peace country for substitute teacher appreciation week. The Alberta Teachers’ Association initiative recognizes the work substitutes do in the classroom and school communities.

The Grande Prairie Public School Division (GPPSD) is using students’ artwork as a way to acknowledge and show appreciation for their substitutes. Students in the GPPSD used their art skills to draw pictures which showcase the contributions substitute teachers have made, and the ways they have helped students succeed.

The Peace Wapiti Public School Division is using social media to show its appreciation through a ‘Substitute Spotlight’ series, where each day a different substitute teacher is highlighted. These posts include questions and answers, along with fun facts which allow the school community to get to know the substitute better.

Earlier this week the Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools Division took to Facebook thanking the substitutes in their school system for “supporting our schools and for your dedication to our students.”
