Devon Canada helps out with science lessons at Penson School

Students at Penson School in Grovedale now have access to a special piece of equipment that will help with their understanding of mechanical systems. Using a $4500 grant from Devon Canada, junior high math and science teacher Cathy Squires and her husband built pneumatic hole punch and a hydraulic pencil sharpener. Squires says her students current and future will hopefully be able to better visualize how hydraulics and pneumatics really work.

“My husband did bring in tubing, the students were able to see how in the field of instrumentation and the oilfield it can be attached to both pneumatic or hydraulic devices, so they were being given real world examples of how these different devices are used, and in different professions as well.”

The devices was unveiled to students at the school yesterday, but will be kept at the school to benefit future classes.
