Local oilfield company director fined for not filing taxes

A Grande Prairie man and his oilfield company have been fined a total of $8,000 by the Canada Revenue Agency. 34 year old Lester Debock has plead guilty to not filing tax returns for himself or LD Oilfield Services between 2008 and 2011.

Debock is a director of the company, and has been fined $1,000 for each of the missing personal and corporate returns. He has until August 31st to pay the fines and the end of the year to file.

The CRA reminds Canadians that if they ever make a tax mistake, they can disclose it before action is taken and possibly avoid fines.
