No funds for signals at bypass intersection with 105th Street

The city will have to wait even longer to install traffic signals at the intersection 105th Street and the bypass. Alberta Transportation has turned down a request for cost-share funding as was recommended in the 102nd Street traffic study.

The province notes that $165,000 was allocated for signals in 2006, but the work was not done at this time. Acting Regional Director Danny Jung adds that with expected government revenue shortfalls, highway budgets have been reduced.

The City will try again next year, and if rejected again, will look at different funding options.
