Grande Prairie Chamber of Commerce names new board chair

The Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce has welcomed a new executive following the organization’s annual general meeting.

Cindy Park from the Minhas Group moves into the role of chair while Cord Spero of ReMax is chair-elect and Jon Anderson assumes the role of vice-chair. Tertius Genis of Fusion Business Solutions will remain on the executive as past chair.

Park says she is honoured to lead the chamber into 2023, adding the organization does important work in the Grande Prairie area.

“I have been part of the business community here for over 20 years. I get to be a part of leading changes in our province, our community, and our region. I will be supporting business owners and also work with municipalities and our stakeholders to ensure we move to the next level of our business focus.”

Park says the role of the chamber is critical in today’s unsure economic times.

“The chamber advocates to bring business solutions to issues that we have never had before. We provide new types of learning opportunities to improve business outcomes and to provide platforms to exchange ideas through networking. All of those things are different than they were three and five years ago. We need to make sure we support all of our businesses in this region.”

Three vacant positions on the board were filled by Mariah Braun of M3M Marketing, Cliff Headon of Stringam LLP, and Dan Stojanovic of ABC Recycling.

The Chamber also handed out its annual awards at the AGM. The Clem E. Collins Award for chamber volunteer went to Cris Seppola, the Business Citizen of the Year award went to Justin Munroe of Pizza Hut, and the Dan H. Minchin Award for long-term member business achievement went to Beairsto & Associates Engineering & Survey.
