UPDATE: The power has gone out again. ATCO Electric says a broken wire is to blame and the estimated time of restoration is 7:05 p.m.

UPDATE: The power has been restored to almost all affected by the outage. Small outages remain in the Wembley and Dimsdale areas.

More than 2,300 ATCO Electric customers are without power in the southwest part of Grande Prairie and surrounding area. ATCO says the power went out around 4:24 p.m. Monday and the estimated time of restoration is 6:30 p.m.

The region affected looks to cover an area north to Westpointe, east to O’Brien Lake, south to Township Road 710, and west to Flyingshot Lake. The Town of Wembley also reported its power flickering around the same time.

The outage is being referred to as an unplanned trouble call with the cause under investigation.
