Grande Prairie average rent lowest of national survey

Despite prices increasing, Grande Prairie had the lowest average rent out of the 35 cities on the latest Rentals.ca and Urbanation National Rent Report last month.

According to the report, Grande Prairie rent prices for a one-bedroom apartment were up 8 per cent year-over-year in October, with the average cost of rent being $968. Two-bedroom apartments in the city saw an increase of 9.7 per cent year-over-year, with an average cost of $1,173.

Rent prices across Alberta saw a 13.2 per cent increase, while the national average saw a 5.6 per cent increase. Other cities included in the report were Edmonton, which sits 31st on the list, and Calgary, which finished 26th.

Vancouver and Toronto finished with the country’s two most expensive rent averages. The average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Vancouver is $2,576, while in Toronto the average price is $2,478
