The Grande Prairie Storm have made a couple of moves on their roster, ahead of this weekend’s action. On Thursday the Storm traded 2004 centreman, Gabriel Filion, to the Princeville Tigers of the Quebec Junior Hockey League. In return, the Storm has received the rights to 2002 defenseman Antoine Desrochers. Desrochers, who was recently released from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, comes to the storm with a record of 10 games played, two goals, two assists, and two penalty minutes to date in the 2022-2023 season. Storm General Manager Mark Bomersback says the organization is looking forward to Desrochers joining the lineup and helping the team.
“Anytime you can add a player of not only Antoine’s calibre but his experience and a player who’s won a championship – it’s an easy decision for the staff to make,” Bomersback says. “We are getting better and better daily, we want to be more consistent and start stringing some wins together before the holiday break.”
Along with the transaction for Desrochers, the Storm have also called up local affiliate Reis Nyland for the weekend. The forward is playing for the Northern Alberta Xtreme U18 team and has a record of 11 games played, 3 goals, 4 assists and 10 penalty minutes so far this season.
The Storm will host the Camrose Kodiaks on Friday, and the Spruce Grove Saints on Saturday.
