Grande Prairie represented at national municipal conference

Local city councillors got an opportunity to hear from some federal politicians during the Federation of Canadian Municipalities annual conference in Edmonton over the past four days. Councillors Lorne Radbourne and Chris Thiessen represented Grande Prairie at the event, which gathers more than 1700 mayors and councillors together each year and wraps up today.

As this year’s conference is less than 5 months ahead of the 2015 federal election, Liberal leader Justin Trudeau, NDP leader Thomas Mulcair, and Green Party leader Elizabeth May, along with Finance Minister Joe Oliver made the trip to Edmonton to meet with municipal leaders.

The FCM hopes to see federal politicians commit to funding for municipal infrastructure, transportation, and more affordable housing.
