A pilot project to improve network coverage in the County of Grande Prairie is in its early stages.
On Tuesday, County of Grande Prairie Council and Committee of the Whole heard a proposal from Shared Tower, an organization that addresses network coverage and capacity issues for urban to rural markets, about improving wireless services in the region.
Members of council directed administration to work with the organization and choose locations for a 4G and 5G monopole. The infrastructure will work to improve the existing coverage in designated areas of the county.
Along with starting to put together a pilot project, the administration was also advised to work with Shared Tower on creating an engagement framework and economic study for the pilot project.
