The county of Grande Prairie is celebrating the career of an employee who has been serving in uniform for half a century.
County Peace Officer Dave Campbell marked his 50 year work anniversary in December, and received a medal for 20 years of Peace Officer Service earlier this year.
Campbell joined the military in 1964 before starting a 27 year career with the RCMP in 1973. He then worked with city traffic enforcement for a time after his retirement, but was recruited by the county in 2002 and became a sergeant six years later.
Campbell says it has been an honour to wear six different uniforms during his 50 years of service, and he is proud to have been a part of the community’s he has served in that time.
