Boil water advisory lifted in Sexsmith

The boil water advisory for the entire Town of Sexsmith has been lifted. Aquatera officials say the advisory came as a result of a water main break that occurred during construction in the area.

Aquatera says following flushing and sampling requirements to ensure the delivery of clean was met. However, residents are being asked to keep a bit of a checklist in mind as they begin to turn the water back on:

  • Turn on all taps and flush water lines for at least five minutes (10 minutes if you live in an apartment building).
  •  Read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for flushing, cleaning, and sanitizing
    cisterns.
  • Drain and refill hot-water tanks that are set below 45ÂşC.
  • Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle.
