City Centre signage project receives federal support

A project that will give the area around Grande Prairie City Centre a facelift is receiving federal support. The Grande Prairie Downtown Association received $230,126 from the Canada Community Revitalization Fund to go towards the $320,000 expected to be spent.

“The heart of the city holds a special place in our community, and it is also the urban centre of the Peace Region,” says Executive Director Wendy Bosch. “This project will enhance the ongoing revitalization of the heart of our city – promoting vibrancy, sustainability, tourism, and economic development.”

The project will see 22 branded poles installed on the border of downtown and a new entrance sign. The lighting for the signage will also have the ability to change colours for different events like Christmas, Halloween, and Pride month.
