Grande Prairie breaks heat record for third day in a row

For the third day straight, the temperature in Grande Prairie has hit a record high. It reached 19.6 degrees at the Grande Prairie Airport Wednesday, beating the previous October 19th record of 18.9 degrees set in 1978.

A 78-year-old weather record was broken Tuesday. It hit a high of 22.2 degrees, surpassing the previous hottest October 18th of 21.1 degrees in 1944.

On Monday, the daily high of 21.8 degrees bested the previous October 17th record of 21.5 degrees set in 2018.

It’s unlikely a record will be set for the fourth day in a row. The highest October 20th on record was 17.8 degrees in 1964. It only warmed up to 12 degrees Thursday.
