A second-degree murder charge have been laid in the death of a seven-month-old in High Prairie.
The sudden death of Oaklan Cunningham at a home in the town was reported to RCMP around 4:30 p.m. on October 6th. After the case was handed over to the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit, 29-year-old Kyra Renee Backs of High Prairie was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
Authorities say Backs ran a day home in High Prairie at the time of the death. Police are looking to speak to any families with concerns who sent or continue to send their children to the day home facility.
