The emergency department at the Fairview Health Complex will be closed until 7 a.m. Monday morning due to no staff. Alberta Health Services says there is a lack of registered nursing staff and it is unable to find temporary coverage starting at 11 p.m. Sunday.
During that time, people are asked to call 9-1-1 if they have a medical emergency and 8-1-1 for non-emergency, health-related questions. Nurses will remain on-site in Acute Care.
AHS says the emergency department may reopen sooner if it can find coverage. The ED was also closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday due to an unexpected nursing shortage.
