Nursing shortage leads to Fairview emergency department closure

The emergency department at the Fairview Health Complex will be closed until 7 p.m. Saturday. The closure began at 7 a.m. due to what Alberta Health Services calls an unexpected nursing shortage.

Nurses are on-site to provide triage and assessments and to refer patients to emergency departments in surrounding communities. Patients needing urgent emergency medical care should call 9-1-1 as EMS calls will be re-routed to surrounding facilities.
