Wind, heat records set in Grande Prairie

A trio of weather records has been set in Grande Prairie over the past three days.

On Sunday, a record high of 23.6 degrees was reached. Previously, the warmest October 9th on record was 23.2 degrees in 2010.

On Monday, wind gusts reached 94 kilometres per hour, besting the previous October 10th record of 93 kilometres per hour, also set in 2010.

Tuesday’s wind speed of 54 kilometres per hour also surpassed the October 11th record of 53 kilometres per hour reached in 2014.

Since the beginning of 2022, 59 weather records have fallen at the Grande Prairie Airport.
