250 votes cast in first by-election advance poll

A total of 250 voters turned out on the first of two advance poll days for the City of Grande Prairie by-election. The second will be on October 15th at the Teresa Sargent Hall in the Montrose Cultural Centre from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. before voting day on October 17th.

Grande Prairie residents are voting to fill one vacant position on city council, following the passing of City Councillor John Lehners. Eight candidates are vying for the position.

In order to vote, people must be a resident of the City of Grande Prairie as of October 17th, be at least 18 years old, and a Canadian citizen. Voters must bring a piece of ID that includes their name and address, like a driver’s licence, bank statement, property tax assessment notice, or insurance policy.
