Grande Prairie Forest Area wildfire danger moderate

The wildfire danger in the Grande Prairie Forest Area remains moderate. There is currently one active wildfire in the region in the Municipal District of Greenview west of Fox Creek.

It was first reported on July 28th and is considered under control at 76.1 hectares. It was sparked by lightning.

Since the beginning of wildfire season on March 1st, 72 wildfires have burned nearly 98 hectares. Fire permits are required for any type of burning in the Forest Protection Area until October 31st.

The City of Grande Prairie still has a fire advisory in effect. Permits for heavy fuels will not be issued.
