More delays are expected on Highway 40 next month. The intersection with Highway 668 by Reilly Transfer will be closed for reconstruction from October 1st to 25th.
During that time, northbound traffic will need to detour east on the Correction Line/Highway 668 or west on Township Road 710/35 Avenue, while southbound traffic can go west on Township Road 710 but not east on Highway 668.
Westbound traffic on Highway 668 will be able to turn north on Highway 40 but not south, and eastbound traffic on Township Road 710 will be able to turn in both directions. Passenger vehicles heading west on Highway 668 can turn south on Range Road 62 to Township Road 704A to get south on Highway 40.
Drivers are warned of delays and asked to give themselves extra time to travel. Work on this section of Highway 40, including the twinning and second bridge over the Wapiti River is expected to wrap for the season on December 23rd.
