More shows added as Sexy Laundry draws in sell-out crowds

The first play of Grande Prairie Live Theatre’s 60th season is officially a hit. With tickets to nearly every performance of Sexy Laundry selling out, General Manager Wayne Ayling says two additional shows have been added for the final week.

“Sexy Laundry by Michelle Riml has been a runaway success, and, as a result, the cast and crew know that there’s many people out there who are not going to be able to see it because… the shows are all virtually almost sold out.”

The play opened September 15th and was slated to run Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays until October 1st. An extra showing has been added this Wednesday, as well as a “late night” show at 9:45 p.m. Friday.

“We’re really thankful that so many people have seen Sexy Laundry and we want to make sure that everybody who wants to see it gets a chance,” adds Ayling.

Sexy Laundry is a play about a couple who books themselves into a trendy spa hotel with the mission of jump-starting their 25-year marriage. It’s clearly struck a chord with audiences, with rave reviews being posted on social media and standing ovations reported.

The performance was billed for mature audiences only. Ayling says Grande Prairie Live Theatre aims to have shows for a variety of audiences each season.

“That’s one of the things that we try to do is be a theatre that can attract any type of audience member.”

Remaining tickets for Sexy Laundry can be booked by calling the box office at 780-538-1616 or online. The next event for GPLT is Percussiano3, a musical trio, slated for October 13th, followed by Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash from October 20th to November 5th.
