Grande Prairie Forest Area wildfire danger now moderate

Wind and drying conditions have increased the wildfire danger in the Grande Prairie Forest Area. It has been upped from low to moderate.

So far this wildfire season, 71 wildfires have burned nearly 98 hectares in the Grande Prairie Forest Area. People are reminded to regularly check their off-highway vehicles for the buildup of flammable material.

There are no longer any fire restrictions or advisories in the Grande Prairie Forest Area or County of Grande Prairie, but the City of Grande Prairie still has a fire advisory in effect. Permits for heavy fuels will not be issued.
