South Peace Regional Archives ready to unveil newest exhibit

As part of Alberta Archives Week, the South Peace Regional Archives will be unveiling its latest exhibit in a special drop-in event on October 4th.

“Archives at Work” is a look back at just how far of a reach the Peace Region has made not only in Alberta but across the world.

“Everything from very local connections, our work with other community non-profits or with funding partners, all the way to our provincial and international impact through these reproductions and making materials accessible through our magazine and website,” says Executive Director Alyssa Currie.

“Both the breadth and the depth of the impact that our archives have on the community,” she adds.

Currie says of all the items and Grande Prairie related articles she has seen over the years, one in particular, stands out above the rest.

“A 1955 County of Grande Prairie map that appeared in a best selling Norwegian novel, being used to connect a fictional setting to a real-world setting.”

The event is free to the public and will take place from 3:30-5:30 p.m in the Community Room of the Grande Prairie Museum.
