The Town of Beaverlodge will be celebrating Canada’s 150th this weekend with a two-day fair. Things kick off Friday morning with a three-day horse show at the agri-plex, put on by the Beaverlodge Pony Club.
Later Friday, the town will be serving dinner at St. Mary Catholic School, followed by umbrella painting for the kids and a family dance. Fireworks will be set off at the agri-plex to wrap up the day at 11 p.m.
Saturday’s festivities will begin with a parade starting at the agri-plex, a car show at the arena will run from noon to 4 p.m., and a community BBQ will be held back at the school from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.. The new bike park will be open from 12 to 3 p.m. and a ball hockey tournament runs from 1 to 6 p.m.
The Farmers’ Market will be set up from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and there will be bouncy castles and face painting to keep children busy. Families can also enjoy free swimming at the pool from 2 to 8 p.m.
