A Rycroft man has been charged after smashing car windows in Jasper with an axe. On July 9th, RCMP say the 18 year old was drunk and he was allegedly threatening people with the weapon. He then used it to smash the windows.

Police were called to the parking lot at around 3:35 in the afternoon where a bystander had managed to take the axe away from the man and a group of people had detained him. Officers arrested him without incident.

The man is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count of mischief under $5,000, and two counts of uttering threats to cause death.
