Damage done to Wapiti River shore, sign over long weekend

Fish and Wildlife officers are turning to the public for helping finding the people responsible for damaging public land near the Wapiti River over the Easter long weekend. The province says a sign was set up at an area just south of Grande Prairie last summer warning people not to drive on the bed and shore of the river.

That sign has since been vandalized, and will need to be replaced. Officers also found tracks going past the sign, along the shore, and even into the water.

Anyone with information on the damage to public land is asked to call the 24 hour Report A Poacher line at 1-800-642-3800.
