Grande Prairie man heads to Dragons’ Den

After launching his new business just under a year ago, a Grande Prairie man is taking his app to the Dragons’ Den. The auditions came through the city in early March. In order to meet the Dragons, Travis Lutz had to make it through the producers with his app called Glickin.

The garage sale app makes it easy to connect people with garage sales in their community. After launching on May 1st, 2016, Lutz says it has been a pretty eventful year.

“It’s been so fun and great. It has all gone exactly perfectly. I say that because we launched and it went great for six months. I had six months where I was grinding into it, changing, altering and working on videos. Then I am going to Dragons’ Den… I didn’t know I could dig that deep.”

He was surprised that he made it through the producers when they came through Grande Prairie.

“I didn’t think it went well. They were asking me a bunch of questions, some of them I didn’t know. I am not a numbers guy. I am happy they did ask me the difficult questions because now I prepare to answer those in a clear, efficient way.”

It was only a week later and Lutz received a call from the producers saying he made it through to the next round. He explains that no matter what he is offered, he is going to take it.

“It’s not about the money. If you were able to get in business with someone like that? It’s about the world that they live in.”

Lutz says if he could win over any Dragon to get on his team he would pick Michelle Romanow. He explains that her tech-coupon background makes her the perfect fit. If he can’t win over her, he hopes Manjit Minhas or any of the other entrepreneurs will opt to be part of the Glickin team.
