Rotary Dream Home lottery beats record sales

As of 4 pm Sunday, the Rotary Dream Home Lottery made its best year for sales. The cut off for sales was at midnight last night and Raffle Manager Kevin Hilgers says the last week of the lottery is always the biggest of the year. This year improving 40 per cent in the last week than what sales came in at in 2016.

The 50-50 surpassed last year’s total by over $80,000 as well. The record was set last year when that part of the lotto brought in just over $398,000. This year it raked in $486,000.

The final draws will be held this Wednesday at 7:00 pm at the Dream Home in Taylor Estates. Proceeds go to help community groups in the region including Rotary Club of Grande Prairie After Five, KidSport Grande Prairie & Area, Grande Prairie Public School District Education Foundation, Grande Prairie Catholic School District Band Parents Association, and Peace Wapiti Academy Band Parent Association. There are other community groups that benefit as well including Rotary Club of Grande Prairie Sunrise, South West 40 Playground Society, Grande Prairie Skating Club, Hindu Society of the Peace Region, Special Olympics Grande Prairie, Peace Area Riding for the Disabled Society (PARDS), 577 Parent Association (Air Cadets), Canadian Parents for French Grande Prairie Chapter Association, and Catholic Family Services of Grande Prairie.
