Alleged shoplifters found with more stolen goods

The search for two alleged shoplifters has led police to a bunch of stolen goods.

RCMP were first called around 11:50 Monday to a hardware store in Beaverlodge where a man and a woman were seen stealing. The clerk gave officers the licence plate of the vehicle they left in, and it was found parked in front of a convenience store in town.

The pair was found inside the shop and arrested, and a search of the vehicle turned up a small amount of meth, things that belonged to local stores and property from an incident in Hinton in mid-March. Everything will be returned to its rightful owners.

37 year old Richard Kenneth Bensen and 32 year old Sindy Allison Lacey of Grande Prairie are facing several charges, including possession of stolen property over $5,000. They’ll appear in court on April 12th.
