Family events to be held this weekend

There are ways for you and your kids to celebrate Family Day long weekend around the city. The City of Grande Prairie is hosting a handful of activities inside and outside to mark the day.

Muskoseepi Park program event Manager Carla Wells says the Winterlude will be held in the park with special additions this year.

“This is will be the first event for the Canada 150 events for the City of Grande Prairie. It is an exciting way to kick off the Canada 150 and we are going to celebrate all year.”

Canada 150 trivia will be held along with sleigh rides and face painting.

“It is supposed to be beautiful. This might affect some of the activities. They may have to changes the activities, like snow shoeing, to match the depleting snow.”

On Monday, Eastlink Centre is hosting a BBQ and picnic in the fieldhouse along with bean bag toss, tug-of-war, giant board games and glitter tattoos.

There will also be bouncy castles and family skating at Revolution Place. The Grande Prairie Storm will also be at the arena signing autographs.

The Grande Prairie Museum is holding traditional inuit games on the Monday with all ages welcome.

Neighbourhoods Associations around the city will also be holding Winter Blast events. Signature Falls, Mountview, Swanavon, and Westpointe are hosting events in their neighbourhoods Saturday. On Sunday, Pinnacle, Mission, and Cobblestone are hosting their Winter Blast while Royal Oaks will participate on Monday.
