Arrest made in Peace River double stabbing

Peace Regional RCMP have arrested a man suspected of stabbing two people a month ago. 25 year old Steven Daniel Phair has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a weapon.

Police were called to the McNamara Liquor Store in Peace River around 2 a.m. on December 17th, 2016. Two men had been stabbed in the area and went to the store for help until emergency services arrived.

The 34 year old from Beaumont and 29 year old from North Sydney, Nova Scotia were taken to the local hospital and then to Edmonton and Grande Prairie for further treatment. They’ve since been released.

The victims were able to help officers in their investigation and Phair was arrested on January 14th. Mounties have also thanked members of the public who sent in tips.
