Alleged Prairie Mall shooter arrested in Calgary

The man wanted in connection with the Prairie Mall shooting has been arrested. Grande Prairie RCMP had determined 23 year old Liban Musse was in the Calgary area. Calgary Police Service found him at a hotel in the north west part of the city and took him into custody around 1:30 Wednesday morning.

He’s set to appear in court in GP on September 26th on six firearms related charges. They include reckless discharge of a firearm, discharge of a firearm with intent, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of restricted firearm with ammunition.

Musse is accused of shooting a man following a fight in the mall’s food court around 5 p.m. on September 15th. Two innocent bystanders were grazed by the bullet after it passed through the victim’s body and ricocheted.

Police have thanked the public for their help in their investigation, and ask any witnesses who haven’t yet to come forward.
