Heritage Day takes over Muskoseepi Park

The annual Heritage Day events will be held this long weekend around the city.

Monday August 1st, the Grande Prairie Museum will be part of the free event with live demonstrations of black smiths and rope making. There will be miniature horses as well as old fashioned carnivals games. The museum is also celebrating their 55th anniversary.

The Amphitheatre in Muskoseepi Park is also part of the events with entertainment like Blue Bird Native Dancers as well as Booming Tree Taiko Drumming going on throughout the afternoon.

There will be around 9 food vendors on hand for people to purchase food as well.

Because of all of the events in the park, there will be no parking in the regular Muskoseepi Parking lots. The City of Grande Prairie is asking residents to walk down to events or take city transit.

The Eastlink Centre has events throughout the day. There will be Family Yoga from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, a Three Point Shooting Contest from 1:30 pm to 3:00pm and a Drip Cake Decorating Workshop from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

The Eastlink Centre facility will only be open from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm because of the holiday Monday.
