Grande Prairie man creates garage sale app

An app that was launched in May is aiming to help you get to garage sales easier. Grande Prairie’s Travis Lutz created Glickin as a way for people to post their location of their sales in the city and across Canada.

“It sorts garage sales by proximity. When you turn it on, the closest sales are on the top and as you scroll they get further and further away. There is currently no limit on that and if you keep scrolling, you’ll eventually get to Newfoundland.”

The mastermind behind the program says it isn’t about making money to him and that he gets complete satisfaction out of the success the app is having.

“I put in everything I could possibly think of to make it as awesome as possible. To do all that work and put all that effort in, almost everyone who tries it loves it, it is such a good feeling.”

As of last week, the app had been downloaded over 5300 times. Lutz explains that the local publicity is helping him get the ball rolling with more downloads in the last few days.

Every day is different but Lutz is getting the word about the app through video, on the Facebook page and will sometimes spread the word by hitting the pavement.

Glickin is available for free on all smart phone app stores.

Lutz also has a Youtube channel that focuses on garage sales. It is called Garage Sale Television:
