Whispering Ridge Community School construction begins this spring

Peace Wapiti Public School Division has found tender for the Whispering Ridge Community School. The process closed on April 2nd and they granted the job for an estimate of $15,792,000. Graham Construction won the bid. With the company set, the construction will begin this spring.

The school is set for opening in fall 2017 and will only offer Kindergarten to Grade 6 classes. The following year there will be addition of grade seven students. The 2019-2020 year will have grade eight students join the mix.

The current Harry Balfour School boundaries will be affected by the opening of the school. Highway 40 will divide the south from the Wapiti River to the Grande Prairie city limits. The north divide will be the section from city limits to the Highway 43 interchange along Highway 2. The western part of the attendance area will be assigned to WRCS but if they would like to stay at HBS they have to provide their own transportation.
