Local indigenous Gothic horror film premieres in Grande Prairie

Grande Prairie Live Theatre rolled out the red carpet Tuesday night as it screened the premiere of a local film that’s going international. Bohemian Blood started as a project for the Frightening 48 Film Challenge, but co-writer and star Cam White says they’ve since turned it in to a 22 minute film starring Hell of Wheels star Gerald Auger.

“It’s a story of women that run the streets getting used and essentially getting taken in by a master and getting strength and tasks to do. It culminates with them all working together to kind of kill some people.”

The flick is billed as “indigenous Gothic horror” a new genre that has caught the attention of a company in Los Angeles, and an international distribution agreement was recently signed. Auger, who graduated from Grande Prairie Regional College, plays an indigenous cult leader, and volunteered his time.

“20 years ago in 1995 I got discovered here. I’ve been in Hollywood for 20 years, so coming back to Grande Prairie and helping Cam White, Cam Belseth and Michael Bourree live their dream… I had told myself that if I could help, so it’s all about giving back and thanking Grande Prairie.”

The plan now is raise money to make Bohemian Blood feature-length and screen it internationally.
