An investigation into a stolen vehicle led to shots being fired at a police vehicle Saturday afternoon. Officers were out in Wembley looking at the vehicle parked in front of a home. While arranging to have it removed, a mountie from the Beaverlodge detachment saw a white Ford pickup driving towards him, and then turning around and speeding away.
RCMP followed the vehicle through the town towards Highway 43, when witnesses reported shots fired from the truck towards the cruiser. They chased the pickup onto the Highway, but lost it in the area of Township Road 712 and Range Road 71.
Fortunately, no one was injured, and an investigation into the incident continues.
