High School golf championships come to a close

The Alberta Schools Athletic Association Provincial Golf Championships wrapped up in the Swan City yesterday. The Grande Prairie Composite High School hosted the event at the Dunes Golf and Winter Club and the Grande Prairie Golf and Country Club Monday and Tuesday.

Local golfer Max Sekulic of Spirit River High School finished 11th in the boys division and Cara Banach of Fairview High School finished 21st in the girls division.

The winners on the boys side were the teams from West Island College from Calgary and Barrhead High School. Logan Carver from West Island College claimed the top spot individually. On the girls side of things teams from Hugh Sutherland High School in Carstairs, and Innisfail High School took first place finishes. Jaden Baustad from Centennial High in Calgary won gold in the individual girls event.
