Police have managed to get a prisoner back into custody after he escaped officers earlier this afternoon. 28 year old Rocky Gray was under police guard in hospital after a possible drug overdose and escaped while being released.
Â
Sargent Roy Kennedy says he fled to a home close to the hospital and barricaded himself inside. He surrendered a brief time later and was taken into custody without incident.
Â
Gray was originally arrested for acting aggressive towards RCMP members after an attempted traffic stop for riding a motorcycle with its headlight off. He fled from police multiple times, tried to remove an officer’s taser, and attempted to reach into a backpack that had a sawed off shotgun inside.
Â
He is now facing a number of new charges after today’s incident. RCMP will be conducting an internal review.
