Man clinging to log rescued on Peace River

The fire department in Peace River had to make an unusual rescue on the water last night. Residents in the south end heard a man calling for help, and the department’s 20 foot aluminum jet boat was used to find him clinging to a log.

He had reportedly been floating downstream for some time and wasn’t able to swim to shore. Posts on social media indicate that he had been out with friends, but it’s unclear whether they left him to swim or if he made the choice himself.

Firefighters gave him medical care until he was brought to the ambulance waiting on the shore.
